Chocolate Truffle Day + Mediterranean-inspired Chocolate-Tahini Truffle {recipe}

What do you get when you cross Mediterranean Diet Month with Chocolate Truffle Day? You get a Mediterranean-inspired Chocolate-Tahini Truffle, of course. I know what you’re probably thinking… chocolate and tahini? But, it is a delicious combination. I promise.

Tomorrow I’ll post about the benefits of a Mediterranean-style diet. But, today… well, I didn’t want to let Chocolate Truffle Day pass without sharing my recipe for these delicious chocolate-tahini morsels. I love walnuts, but I also made some without nuts for my daughter who prefers unadulterated chocolate. And the nut-free version makes a deliciously rich sweet treat for those with tree nut allergies.

Chocolate-Tahini Truffles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate morsels or chips
  • 1 cup tahini paste
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 4 Tbsp. chopped walnuts or other favorite nuts (optional)
  • Dark cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave for 45 seconds, stir and then microwave in 30 second increments, stirring between, until chocolate is melted. Add tahini, vanilla and cinnamon and stir or whisk until mixture is smooth. Fold in nuts, if adding. Place bowl in refrigerator, until mixture is chilled and firm, about 20 minutes. Using a melon ball or cookie dough scoop, spoon mixture in balls (roll with hands if needed), roll in dark cocoa powder until lightly coated and place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Keep chilled in refrigerator until ready to eat. Makes about 35 truffles.
