We might be halfway through summer, but it is NOT over yet! We still have a couple more months of warm-weather grilling on the menu. And while standard BBQ fare tends to be unhealthy and full of fat and calories, it’s super-easy to grill up tasty, nutritious superfoods–you know those nutrient powerhouse foods that pack in a boatload of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants PLUS super powers like reducing your risk of chronic disease and maybe even prolong life.
Yesterday I shared some super EASY tips and recipes for getting these superfoods out to the grill and on to your table with Cheryl and Greg at WTVR CBS 6 in Richmond. We had a great time dishing about these tasty and nutritious foods and even making a few of them on-air.
Here’s a sneak peak into one of the recipes. You won’t want to miss the other NO-FUSS recipes for a super TASTY superfoods cookout! Click here to watch the segments.
Ingredients
- ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. light brown sugar
- 4 peaches, halved with pits removed
- Canola oil or melted butter for brushing on peaches
Instructions
- Preheat grill. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Brush oil or butter on cut sides of peaches. Grill peaches, cut-side down until grill marks appear, about 3 minutes. Brush bottoms of peaches lightly with oil or butter and turn peaches over. Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture over cut side of peaches, cover grill and cook until cinnamon-sugar has caramelized and peaches are tender, about 3 to 5 minutes. Serve immediately, with nonfat yogurt, ice cream or crème fraiche and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. Serves 4.
